Vox Pacifica Auditions
Vox Pacifica is a relatively new choir in Bellingham, WA for soprano and alto voices under the artistic direction of Wendy Bloom. Auditions for Vox Pacifica are ongoing. We invite all interested singers to consider auditioning to sing with us! Singers must be able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination and booster in order to audition and participate. We take our responsibility to provide a safe environment for our singers, their families, and our audience and community very seriously. We are prepared to change and adapt immediately as required for public health, per CDC guidelines.

“The ideal candidate for Vox Pacifica will be able to sing with a full-bodied classical sound, a straight tone, and a pop/folk style of singing. They will be a capable sight-singer — and — will know how to practice at home to be fully prepared for rehearsals. The ideal soprano will be able to float the high notes softly and sing them fully. The ideal alto will be able to sing below the staff in both head voice and chest voice.”
What to expect at your audition:
• You must be prepared to perform a song of your choice (hopefully one with a not very complex accompaniment for Wendy to sight read!)
• There will be some sight-singing & sight reading
• Some straight tone singing
• Some range demonstration exercises
• And you will sing a simple folk song of the director’s choice.

FAQs
For Fall 2023 – Vox Pacifica’s season will run from early-September to late-May, 2023 with weekly rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm and at least two major concerts and this season, our performance in Spokane, WA at the ACDA NW Conference in late January 2024. Singers are expected to commit to our rehearsal and performance schedule for each season. Attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory.
FALL 2023: Our singing season is made up of a winter and spring term, each culminating in a major performance (in December 2023 and again in May 2024). All singers will pay a singer fee of $75 per term to help cover operational expenses (sheet music, venue rentals, salaries for director and accompanist, etc). Other costs that singers may consider include travel to and from rehearsals, concert attire, and optional social events. Scholarships are available to offset tuition for any singer requesting financial consideration.
Fall 2023 – rehearsals will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Center for Spiritual Living on Yew Street Road in Bellingham. Proof of vaccination is mandatory for all singers and face masks may be worn during indoor rehearsals. A dress rehearsal, in addition to the regular weekly rehearsal, will likely be scheduled during the week prior to each major concert. Additional rehearsals may be required at the discretion of the Artistic Director. While not mandatory, singers will be encouraged to attend sectionals hosted by fellow singers throughout the season.
